This is my first installment of Book Thoughts. I can't do a formal book review so I didn't call it like that. A book reflection is too deep, and book takeaway is too much. I easily forget what I read but it depends on the context and content. I just want to write about something I read.

As someone English as a second language, reading this book is a challenge and add those unfamiliar terms, names, and places which bewilder me. Then add the 19th century UK English phrasing and words by the author. Fortunately Internet is our resource and I even took the advantage with the help of AI to help answer my questions.

I still find the book more satisfying compared to the movie. When it comes to imagining things while I read, the movie already tainted my keen visualization. It's just sad that a number of scene are cut off and also changed. How I wish we got the scene for Tom and Goldberry.

I enjoyed the tone of humor of Tolkien as he goes through the tale. It reminds me of C.S. Lewis when I read Narnia years ago. Even though the reader already knew what is the book about. You will know how good the author is, that you are compelled to read the story again and again. Tolkien created something like that, and the lore prove it right through the decades that is in the hands of all Tolkien fans. Just check how those fans collect Tolkien books.
