Chapter 74 – State of the Reading Department

girl over books

Even though I'm using Goodreads, I still track the number of book I've read from a separate note taking app, and listing their titles. This is the same method I do from the previous years. I also add the books that I want to read yet I stop that and just put the books to be read in my Goodreads account.

My goal for this year was to read 50 books, unfortunately I recently completed my 13th book this month. As of writing, I changed my goal to 20 books. I'll just go for the quality over the quantity given that I need to read the physical books I bought which collecting dust in my bookshelf. Then also goes the books I want to read which mostly done either in my Kindle or my old Kobo Glo.

From the previous years since 2020, I drowned myself with Japanese light novels but that lasted only until 2023. That year there was some transition in my life and I returned to reading Christian books and some non-fiction books which I get interested to, like the book about Mekong river. and about the effect of cars in human life.

As of now I added to my “to read” books some philosophy and political books. Both topics just grew out from my curiosity. I dont get philosophy that much, as I'm not a brainy guy at all, and as for the politics, I want to read why our nation is like this, such a failed country compared to the first world nations though progressing very slowly.

That most likely my update for the state of the reading department. There's no forced reading that is happening except for the physical books that I must read and the books I'm hoping to read.

Reading is enjoyable and if you're a Christian by faith, and have an eyes to see then reading the Word of God must be one of your daily priority along with other habit of grace like prayer. If you only read during Bible studies or during Sunday and not the way what the Bible says then you have a problem.

How sweet is Your word to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth! — Psalm 119:103
